SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, urged PSOE and PP on Tuesday to demonstrate “generosity” ahead of the upcoming meeting aimed at resolving the reform of the immigration legislation and to approach the discussions “without hostility” and devoid of “preconceptions”.
“Just reaching an agreement to convene has marked a step forward,” he remarked during the control session of the Parliament’s Plenary, where he indicated that the meeting is anticipated to occur in the first week of December to endeavour towards finalising an agreement that would be concluded at the Conference of Presidents.
He acknowledged that it “seemed unimaginable” that the meeting would actually take place, and now it “fills him with optimism” as his Government contends that the legal amendment “is the answer” to the challenges faced on the islands regarding the distribution of migrant minors, which moreover, should be shared by all autonomous communities.
