SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Saturday morning, Maritime Rescue accompanied a canoe carrying 60 individuals of sub-Saharan descent, approximately 15 kilometres (8 nautical miles) from La Restinga, situated on the island of El Hierro, as reported by the official body.
The vessel was spotted by the Civil Guard, which alerted the Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife around 11:20 am regarding a signal indicating a possible cayuco.
Following this alert, maritime controllers deployed the Acrux rescue boat, which, after locating the canoe, proceeded to guide it to the port where the Red Cross vessel Mike 02 awaited to assist with the docking process.
