SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The head of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, expressed this Friday that he feels “sorrow” regarding the statements made by businessman Víctor de Aldama in court – the alleged culprit in the ‘Koldo case’ – concerning potential commissions of socialist leaders during the pandemic. However, he has refrained from joining the calls for the resignation of the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, as advocated by his coalition partner (PP).
In remarks to reporters, he conveyed his “utmost respect for the judicial system,” which now “needs to proceed,” though he did not disguise the fact that this situation “discredits” politics as a whole.
He mentioned that his disagreements with Torres have always been “political” and therefore did not wish to delve into Aldama’s allegations, which claimed that through the former advisor to the Ministry of Transport, Koldo García, he sought 50,000 euros for Torres for the acquisition of masks in the Canary Islands.
“We sincerely hope that the matter is clarified and explained as soon as possible, to the advantage of all,” he remarked.
