SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Maritime Rescue has saved two vessels carrying 132 migrants in waters close to the island of El Hierro this Tuesday, as conveyed by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of 112 in the Canary Islands, along with the Red Cross.
Specifically, Maritime Rescue initially recovered a canoe with 58 migrants off the coast of El Hierro, transferring them to the La Restinga dock where they received assistance from the local health services, which included the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), Primary Care, and the Red Cross. One individual was required to be transferred to a hospital due to a minor health issue.
Subsequently, Salvamento rescued another canoe carrying 74 migrants, who were also brought to the La Restinga dock (El Hierro) where they were attended to by the health services, and no further transfers were necessary.
