The Icod de los Vinos Town Hall has already unveiled the poster and schedule for San Andrés 2024, which is one of the significant events in the tradition of the municipality; this will take place on the final weekend of the month, from 28 to 30 November.
The mayor, Javier Sierra, highlights that the San Andrés drag makes Icod de los Vinos “an exceptional location, with a distinctive tradition and a point of reference in the Canary Islands and across the nation”. Therefore, a unique programme is being developed for this anniversary. In a similar vein, the Councillor for Festivals, Caty Concepción Mesa, points out that “not only will tables be dragged through the historical centre, but throughout all the neighbourhoods of the city”.
The design of this year’s San Andrés poster is credited to Aymi Segovia, a student of the Art Baccalaureate at IES San Marcos in Icod de los Vinos. “I haven’t been here long, but winning the contest brought me immense joy because I truly appreciate this celebration,” the artist shares, noting her intention to focus the design on the tables and wine, capturing the essence of the festive spirit.
The schedule includes, in addition to the dragging of tables on Friday, 29 November, and Saturday, 30 November, the ceremonial act of uncorking the new wine on the night of Thursday the 28th, which will officially mark the commencement of San Andrés 2024. Furthermore, on Saturday 30th, the Great Wine Festival makes its return to the municipality, showcasing wineries from Icodense and the surrounding area.
A historic celebration, historic media attention
This year, the primary media outlets from Tenerife and the Canary Islands will be present in Icod de los Vinos, providing unprecedented special coverage on television, radio, and in print.
