SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to host the Carnival Attractions Fair of the capital in 2025, specifically on the esplanade of the Los Llanos Dock, an area recently utilised for numerous concerts.
This decision has been made by the Santa Cruz City Council in conjunction with the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
This new venue, which is nearer to the heart of the Carnival festivities, will feature two access walkways and span 26,000 square metres, divided into three distinct areas for 72 stalls: a children’s section, an area dedicated to attractions for adults, and a culinary space.
The ceremony to announce this initiative was held at the Junta del Puerto building and was attended by Pedro Suárez, the president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; José Manuel Bermúdez, the mayor of Santa Cruz; Javier Rivero, the councilman for Fiestas in the capital; and Carlos Crespo, the head of the Presidency Cabinet Division of the port authority.
The mayor expressed his gratitude to the Port Authority president for his willingness to cooperate with the initiatives of the City Council, highlighting that “it is a step forward for the Carnival for the fair to be located near the traditional celebration area; it is a significant achievement to have everything well arranged and prepared in one location”.
Bermúdez believes that the organisation of this event signifies a win for both the city and the Carnival itself.
As for Pedro Suárez, “this is yet another initiative to enhance the connection between the port and the city and represents a further step in the collaboration between the City Council and the port of Santa Cruz.”
He also emphasised that “relocating the fair to the epicentre of the Carnival consolidates the entire area, whilst resolving a mobility concern as Constitution Avenue will not need to be closed as often.”
Javier Caraballero remarked that “this new plan enhances the fair’s conditions, especially given that there was previously a road in the middle that had to be closed for citizen access to part of the attractions,” adding that “the city will gain parking spaces with this proposal, as the lower area of Constitution road was entirely occupied for the children’s fair, and now that space will be available for parking.”
Carlos Crespo mentioned that “the event will not disrupt the port’s service road or access to the boarding area for inter-island transport; efforts are being made to establish various vehicle access controls to the port during the days of the fair, as initially, the fair will only be reachable on foot.”
