According to the PSOE, 337 animals at the dog shelter operated by the ADEPAC foundation, situated in El Ravelo (El Sauzal), find themselves in a dire predicament.
Recently, this protection organisation has highlighted the concerning condition of the island’s facilities, which necessitate sanitation work that was included in the budget during the previous administration.
The socialists assert that these improvements were deemed urgent in May 2023; however, the new team from the Canarian Coalition and the Popular Party has failed to carry them out.
Meanwhile, the shelter is left to manage the deteriorating state of its facilities and the insufficient resources to feed the animals, creating a significant challenge for the care of over 300 dogs by an association that successfully places around 200 animals for adoption each year.
Socialist councillor Javier Parrilla has submitted a motion that will be discussed this week in a plenary committee, urging the governing body to take action and implement solutions to address the difficulties faced by this shelter.
