Helicopter Rescue for Hiker Injured After Fall in Santiago del Teide

On Friday, a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) retrieved a 73-year-old individual who sustained moderate injuries following a fall in Santiago del Teide.

The incident took place at 11:45 a.m. when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES) 112 for the Canary Islands government received a notification indicating that a walker had fallen in a remote area along the Chinyero circular path, rendering him unable to proceed and in need of medical assistance.

GES personnel reached the injured man via helicopter, and after securing and stabilising him, they airlifted him to the aircraft, which then transported him to the helipad in La Guancha.

After landing, the personnel from the SUC took over his care and transferred him to the Hospital del Norte.

The Local Police managed the helicopter’s landing operations on the helisurface, while procedures were overseen by the Civil Guard.
