Ten volunteers stranded in Gambia due to a bird strike involving a turbine on their connecting flight from Barcelona to Tenerife North Airport are set to return. The Tenerife locals had spent a week in the African nation engaging in their charitable endeavours, and their return – following the incident – had been postponed for an additional week. The airline Vueling suggested as a resolution that they would return next Saturday, the 26th, due to the challenges of acquiring new permits to operate in a location – as the company informed this publication – where air traffic at its airport is quite limited. Nevertheless, they have successfully arranged their return four days after the aircraft malfunctioned.
