SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The 24-hour monitoring volcanic surveillance network of the National Geographic Institute (IGN) has registered this Wednesday on the island of La Palma an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 (mbLg) that has also been felt in El Hierro.
The earthquake occurred at 11:10 am in the southwest of the municipality of Villa de Mazo, 34 kilometers deep, and was felt with a maximum intensity of IV on the EMS scale in numerous population centers.
Specifically, it has been felt in Breña Alta, Tazacorte, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Tijarafe, El Paso, San Andrés y Sauces, Los Llanos de Aridane, Puntallana, Villa de Mazo, Fuencaliente, Garafía, Breña Alta, Barlovento, Breña Baja , in La Palma, and in Valverde, in El Hierro.
This earthquake coincides with an increase in seismic activity on La Palma. In fact, since last midnight, almost 90 earthquakes have been registered on the island, of which 37 have exceeded the magnitude of 3 and 8 have been felt with intensities between II and IV.
