SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22nd October (EUROPA PRESS) –
On this Tuesday, the Tenerife Cabildo marked the European Day of People with Deafblindness, an initiative spearheaded by ASOCIDE (Association of the Deafblind of Spain).
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Cabildo’s president, Rosa Dávila; the Minister for Social Action, Águeda Fumero; the president of ASOCIDE, Cristo Manuel González; the general director of Disability for the Government of the Canary Islands, Dulce María Gutiérrez; the Councilor for Social Policies of Santa Cruz City Council, Rosario González, and the CEO of Sinpromi, Adal García.
During the reading of the manifesto, “the importance of raising awareness about the realities faced by individuals with deafblindness was emphasised to foster initiatives that ensure their rights are upheld.”
Deafblindness is not merely a condition that restricts sight and hearing; it also presents significant challenges regarding communication, mobility, and social inclusion.
