The General Directorate of Emergencies announced yesterday a pre-alert status due to coastal conditions affecting the northern and western coasts of La Palma, El Hierro, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, as well as the northern shorelines of La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria.
While no significant incidents were reported, the waves did result in minor damage in certain locations, including the Bajamar natural pools, where several tiles sustained impact.
The La Laguna City Council responded swiftly by cordoning off the impacted areas and preparing to undertake repair efforts as soon as the ocean conditions permit. There were no hazards posed to swimmers.
It is important to note that during this type of pre-alert concerning sea conditions, individuals should maintain a safe distance from where the waves crash, refrain from attempting to capture photos or videos of the sea’s state, and avoid fishing in hazardous zones.
