SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Granadilla de Abona local authority has announced the temporary closure of the central beach of El Médano this Tuesday, following the detection of Enterococci levels exceeding the maximum permitted limits in the recent analysis.
Furthermore, a red flag has been hoisted, which temporarily bans swimming, as stated by the council in a notice.
According to the local authority, only the central beach is affected and the detected levels are slightly above the maximum allowable value.
It also notes that while previous weekly samples indicated good water quality, the results received this Tuesday have just exceeded the permitted parameters for Enterococci.
On the same day, a counter-analysis procedure was organised with the specialised laboratory responsible for these tests.
This action is being taken by the council to ensure the safety of swimmers, pending the counter-analysis results, and the beach will be reopened as soon as the waters are confirmed to be safe for bathing.
Therefore, it is advisable to adhere to the guidelines set by the beach rescue and safety team.
