Officers from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife apprehended a 50-year-old man who was spotted leaping out of a window onto the street from a residence situated in the Salamanca neighbourhood.

Upon noticing the police, the individual fled on foot whilst carrying an electric hammer and a tool bag.

The local police pursued him through various streets in the vicinity and apprehended him as he attempted to conceal himself in the bed of the Santos ravine.

The incident occurred on the morning of last Wednesday, and it was discovered that several renovation projects were underway at the property from which the tools had been taken.

During the chase through the streets of El Olvido, Matilde Martín, Salamanca, Calvo Sotelo and Santiago Cuadrado, the suspect discarded the stolen tools and bag.

Additional officers, including motorcyclists from the local police, also assisted in tracking down the individual, as detailed in a statement from the Local Police.

Following his arrest and identification, the local police undertook several actions to locate the property owners and the representatives of the renovation company to ascertain whether any further tools or items were missing from the residence.

Reports were also gathered concerning a warning given by several neighbours who had witnessed the detainee scaling an exterior wall and entering the home.

The suspect was transported to a medical facility for evaluation and was subsequently taken to the police headquarters where he was placed at the disposal of the relevant judicial authority.
