Las Fuentes Village, situated in Guía de Isora, is on the verge of seeing one of the primary requests made by its residents to the local authorities come to fruition. The development of a drinking water reservoir and the associated distribution network is currently in the planning stage, marking a significant milestone for this small community. Last Thursday, August 29, Félix Álvarez, president of the Association for Rural Development Los Manantiales de Las Fuentes, was invited to inspect the area where this long-anticipated service will be established, alongside technical staff and the representative from ENTEMANSER.
This initiative signifies one of the numerous proposals that the residents of Caserío de Las Fuentes have presented to the mayor, Ana Dorta, during a meeting held on April 17 within the same locality. In attendance were the mayor, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Eulalia Vargas, members of the Association, other local residents, and technical personnel from the Department of the Environment, who engaged in extensive discussions about the pressing needs of the rural centre.
The commencement of the drinking water reservoir project is a momentous occasion for the Las Fuentes community, which has been advocating for this improvement for numerous years. The association’s members have expressed their satisfaction and happiness through a statement on social media, underscoring the significance of this achievement. In their announcement, they emphasised the commitment of ENTEMANSER and the City Council of Guía de Isora, whose assistance has been crucial for this endeavour, which is essential for the area’s quality of life, to finally become a reality.
“A tremendous achievement”
Mayor Ana Dorta has readily described this development as “a tremendous achievement” for the municipality, particularly for a region she believes holds special significance within the local heritage. In her remarks, she stated, “The Caserío de Las Fuentes is a location of immense heritage value to us and for the residents at large. The efforts of the association in maintaining it deserve all commendation and serve as concrete evidence of the importance of collaboration and partnership between residents and administration in addressing citizens’ needs.”
