The airport in the Dutch city of Eindhoven announced on Wednesday that it had been compelled to halt air traffic, impacting flights to Tenerife, owing to a “network disruption.” This issue seems to stem from a computer malfunction that has also disrupted emergency services and the coastguard.
“Due to a network disruption, air traffic is currently not feasible at Eindhoven Airport. The timeline for resolution remains uncertain. Efforts are underway to resolve this matter,” the airport communicated via a message on its website.
As reported by local television network NOS, the issue has originated from the Ministry of Defence and is affecting other emergency services, the coastguard, as well as the Digid identity verification system employed in the Netherlands.
The Ministry of Defence stated on social media that it is actively trying to rectify the issue, although the source of the problem remains unidentified.
According to RTL, the disruption was attributed to a “physical” issue and has also impacted servers at the National Cybersecurity Centre.
Flights that were scheduled for this morning at Eindhoven Airport, whether arriving from or departing to Manchester, Rome, Tenerife or Seville, are listed on the airport’s website as either suspended or delayed.
