SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Aug (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tenerife’s Metropolitan Transport has refuted claims of being fined by the Labour Inspectorate for allegedly violating the internal operating rules of the company’s Health and Safety Committee, which is responsible for investigating traffic accidents and incidents.
This was clarified in an audio message sent to the media, countering a press release by Comisiones Obreras which asserted that the Labour Inspectorate had penalised Tenerife’s Metropolitan Transport for “repeated non-compliance” with the internal regulations of the Health and Safety Committee.
Representatives from Tenerife’s Metropolitan Transport confirmed that the company “has not been subject to any form of penalty.” They mentioned that on 22 July, they received a request from the Labour Inspection seeking information on the investigation of accidents, incidents, and work-related illnesses within the company – a request which has since been responded to, as per the company.
In its public statement, CCOO highlighted that the formulation of this regulation was part of the agreement that resolved the strike in 2023. “Nevertheless, from the outset, the company demonstrated a clear intention to breach it, something they have been doing consistently during this period,” the union remarked.
