According to the latest report by Cáritas Diocesana for the year 2023, a staggering 2,308 individuals in Tenerife are experiencing extreme housing exclusion. This marks a 2.1% increase compared to the previous year, where the number stood at 2,261. The report provides a detailed analysis of this social issue, shedding light on individuals living on the streets, in inadequate housing, or other improvised accommodations such as caves, trailers, or tents. The study reveals that the typical profile of those experiencing homelessness is a middle-aged Spanish man, although there has been a notable rise in the number of women facing similar challenges.
