The mayor of Garachico, Jose Heriberto Gonzalez Rodriguez, took to his Facebook profile on Tuesday to announce the filming of the movie “Beneath a Volcano” in the town. The filming, which has already seen the participation of lead actors William Levy and Maggie Civantos for over a week, has now attracted more artists to the area.
In a photo shared by the mayor, the entire cast can be seen on the film set. Following Levy from left to right, the director Garcia Cuervo and Civantos are joined by Adriana Torrebejano, renowned for her roles in “Land of Wolves”, “Central Hospital” and “The Secret of Old Bridge”; the Mexican actress Fabiola Guajardo, famous for her performances in soap operas like “I Don’t Believe in Men” and “Passion and Power”; Anton Lofer from “The Flag” and “The Best Summer of My Life”; Montesdeoca Pine, known for “Red Sky” and “Way Down”; and Elia Galera with credits in “The Seventh Day”, “7 Lives” and “The Pledge”.
Throughout the week, the production team will be shooting scenes at the Historic Garachico Dock. The sight of what seems to be a military camp set up on the dock has piqued the curiosity of locals. The mayor has explained that it is a film set designed to replicate a military environment.
The presence of these esteemed actors and the cinematic activity in Garachico have stirred excitement among the residents, witnessing their charming town being transformed into a bustling film location. This filming not only places Garachico on the global cinema stage but also holds the promise of boosting tourism and the local economy.
