The Municipal Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has approved the decision of the Island Council to scale down level 1 exceptional measures for forest fire prevention that were activated following the heatwaves alert issued due to the ongoing forest fire hazard.
This updated protocol permits the reopening of the recreational area in Las Mesas Park starting from 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. However, the use of stoves will be strictly prohibited and sealed off.
The Municipal Authority will bolster its resources in various sectors, particularly in the Anaga massif, considering its dense forest cover and interaction with daily activities of residents and visitors.
Grade 1 Measures
Under the level 1 protocol, the ban on fireworks displays will be upheld, along with restrictions on open fires outdoors, such as campfires, stoves, grills, gas cookers, etc.
Moreover, it is advised to refrain from using equipment and tools that could potentially ignite sparks in environmentally delicate zones and the urban-forest border areas.
These special measures will remain effective until there are changes in weather conditions and the heatwaves alert is lifted.
The advice persists against entering or lingering in forested regions of the island and taking utmost care to prevent any activities that might trigger a fire.
