Tenerife Council and University of La Laguna (ULL), through their General Foundation, will train 800 individuals, predominantly young graduates, for the job market via the fourth edition of the Capacita programme, which also aims to connect with the business sector.
These 800 job seekers will receive 1,600 hours of training and 65 training sessions. There are 39 courses on offer, three of which have already been conducted with 127 participants.
The presentation was attended by the insular councillor for Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, and the ULL’s Student Vice Chancellor, Rosario Hernández.
Medina emphasized that “this plan represents an effort to enhance the employability of graduates.” The objective, he added, “is to prepare them for an increasingly competitive and demanding job market.” To achieve this, “we help them acquire competencies and skills to improve their chances of entering the workforce.”
The goal is for these professional skills to increase the chances of finding employment corresponding to their academic qualifications.
Hernández, on the other hand, highlighted that the programme “is yet another example of the concern shown by both the Tenerife Council and the University of La Laguna to enhance the employability of young individuals in the Canary Islands, and the collaboration between them is historical and seamless.” She emphasized that it “is a significant exemplar” and provided the figure of 2,000 agreements signed with companies to facilitate the job placement of the 6,500 young graduates from ULL each year.
Medina and Hernández stressed that Capacita combines the opportunity to receive a personalized assessment of their capabilities for securing employment, guidance to initiate this process, and the necessary training in skills not taught during their formal education.
