SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
Mayor Javier Sierra of Icod de los Vinos has issued a municipal decree to all residents limiting the use of potable water in specific cases, in response to the water emergency declaration by the Cabildo on 1st March.
These measures have been implemented to secure water resources, achieve consumption reduction targets, and ensure water availability.
The restrictions include prohibiting the irrigation of private gardens, orchards, trees, green areas, and sports facilities, except in emergency situations or for new plantations.
Furthermore, pools and fountains without a recycling system or closed circuit are not allowed to be filled, and the use of potable water in portable or inflatable pools is prohibited.
Washing vehicles with hoses on public roads is also banned.
It is reminded that connecting public water supply networks with wells or galleries is prohibited, and non-compliance may result in the suspension of water supply for health-related reasons.
Local Police and Icodemsa staff are authorized to monitor and enforce compliance with these regulations. Instances of non-compliance will be reported to the Mayor’s Office and may incur fines as per the prevailing legislation.
Any queries related to these regulations can be addressed through Icodemsa’s citizen service channels, which can also be used to report water loss or misuse.
