The Cabildo will adapt the Los Zamorano House in Tegueste to be used as the Interpretation Centre for the Anaga Massif Biosphere Reserve and to house the Tourist Information Office, currently located in the town centre. Additionally, the Los Camineros House, owned by the Island Corporation, will be transformed into a hostel for hikers.
The President of the Island Corporation, Rosa Dávila (CC), and the Mayor of Tegueste, Ana Mena (PSOE), formalised yesterday the agreement to transfer the Los Camineros House for its use as a hostel for hikers. The event was also attended by the Councillor of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez; the Roads Councillor, Dámaso Arteaga, and the Deputy Mayor of Tegueste, Juan Norberto Padilla.
The adaptation of the Los Zamorano Estate represents an investment of 477,424 Euros, of which 458,868 Euros are subsidized by the Next Generation Funds of the European Union, while the rest will be provided by the Cabildo. In addition to this amount, around 60,000 Euros will be allocated for the interpretive design of the exhibition content, bringing the total investment to approximately 537,000 Euros.
Specifically, the project includes the refurbishment of the building and the design of the equipment following the criteria of the Tourist Information Office Network of Tenerife (Infoten) for the establishment of the Tourist Information Office in the building –currently located in the centre of Tegueste– and an Interpretation Centre for the Anaga Massif Biosphere Reserve. The Tourist Information Office is housed in four of the building’s rooms.
The Los Camineros House is located on the right-hand side of TF-13 road, at kilometre point 5, and has an area of 184.8 square metres, of which 115 are built. It is a single-storey building with a rear courtyard.
