SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 31. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A meeting is scheduled to take place this Wednesday in Tenerife between the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the Minister of Children and Youth, Sira Rego, to discuss the process of allocating unaccompanied migrant minors among the autonomous communities.
The Canary Islands president will present up to four legislative modification proposals to the minister, aimed at promoting the mandatory distribution of minors, during the 9:00 a.m. meeting at the Presidency of the Government headquarters on the island of Tenerife.
With over 5,300 unaccompanied minor migrants under its guardianship, the Canary Islands aims to relocate at least over half of them due to the overcrowding of all centers, particularly on the island of El Hierro.
