Eulalia García, the Minister of Mobility, and Águeda Fumero, the Minister of Social Action, have been appointed as fourth and fifth vice presidents by the Tenerife Cabildo. This decision aims to strengthen the commitment to important and strategic areas with significant social impact.
The island corporation highlighted that the Social Action sector has the largest share in the 2024 budget, with a total of 271.8 million euros, representing 26.1% of the overall budget. There is a substantial increase in resources for the Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care, reaching 278 million euros, with a significant focus on creating new social and health care facilities. Furthermore, there is a noticeable increase in funding for Gender Violence Units, with the allocation for emergency devices and accommodation resources rising from 1.9 to 2.4 million euros. Additional resources will be directed towards the Care Offices for Victims of Gender Violence, including opening new resources in Abona and La Orotava regions, as well as launching a resource for preventing gender violence in rural areas.
The Cabildo emphasizes that the Mobility sector will play a more significant role in this term to change the habits of Tenerife residents with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion during infrastructure works.
