He Tenerife Council allocates more than 200,000 euros to the restoration of movable property of the Diocese of the Island. Among the interventions, it is worth highlighting the recovery of the coffered ceiling of the main altar of the church of San Francisco, in Santa Cruz, or face the second phase of the restoration of the altarpiece of Señor Preso in the church of the Conception of La Orotava.
The exact amount of the island’s contribution to the process of recovering the patrimonial legacy of the church in Tenerife It is 284,404 euros. This subsidy is part of the actions of the Historical Heritage Program 2023-2027 and is regulated by an agreement signed with the Bishopric, an entity that also collaborates by co-financing the aforementioned measure with an amount of 61,818 euros. The island director of the area, Isabel de Esteban, explains that the objective of this aid is “to conserve the extraordinary inventory of ecclesiastical furniture and contribute to ensuring that this historical-artistic wealth can be preserved for the enjoyment of Tenerife residents.”
The subsidy will allow, in addition to the actions already mentioned, to carry out the restorations of the silver pedestal of the Lord of Humility and Patience, as well as that of the altarpiece of the Virgen del Carmen in La Concepción de La Laguna. In addition to the rehabilitation of the titular image of the parish of San Bartolomé in Tejina; of the glazed ceramic baptismal font located in La Concepción; of the altarpiece of the Blessed Sacrament of the parish of Las Nieves, in Taganana; of the Trinity of the Earth canvas, located in Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia, in Puerto de la Cruz, and of the coffered ceiling of the Main Chapel of the Pilar parish, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
