SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Arona City Council has reported this Thursday that the ‘Esperanza del Sur’ animal shelter managed by an NGO has been evacuated as a precaution against the fire that originated in the Parque de La Reina composting plant, next to the TF-1.
The mayor, Fátima Lemes, has pointed out that the hundred animals are out of danger and for now no personal injuries have been reported.
“No animal has run any risk, I want to send a message of tranquility,” he commented in a statement released by the council.
In the extinction work, troops from the parks of San Miguel, Güímar and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, plus volunteers from Adeje and Güímar, police forces and a GES helicopter that discharges water in the area, intervene.
So far, five people have been treated and two of them have been transferred to a hospital, a man with health problems and a fire officer with an eye injury.
