The Hoya del Parrado gas station, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, distributes 2,400,000 euros in the Christmas Lottery Jackpot. The mixed point has sold six tenths of the number 88008 through machine. It is the point of sale on the Island that has distributed the most money. And not only that, but they also repeat, it is the second time they have sold the first prize, they already did it in 2018, the same year it opened.
It is a rare number and yet He has been the protagonist of the first prize that has been most anticipated. “I think he didn’t ask for it explicitly, unless it has some special meaning for that person, but they tend to be numbers that come out at random and remain,” says owner Javier Arocha, along with Yurena Gil, the other owner.
The business owners found out from none other than one of the winners, who ran to call them with overwhelming emotion. “He was happy as a partridge, thanking us because he wanted to celebrate with us, he wanted to give us a hug,” he says.
Arocha highlights the fortune they have had in selling dos Gordos during the eight years they have been open. «There are administrations that we know that have been around all their lives and that have cost them a lot, but the truth is that we are super happy,” he reflects.
They couldn’t imagine selling so many tenths. At first, they got the idea that it was just one, but when they found out that there were six, they couldn’t believe it. “We always sell with enthusiasm and we thought we would sell one, but six has been a lot of fortune and a lot of money,” he says. “If it is divided into six different families, much better, but that still needs to be seen,” he adds.
The gas station hopes to become more relevant after this stroke of luck to continue adding new successes. «When we give two Gordos for Christmas at a service station, let’s see if they also name us a little more like the gas station in Tenerife“, that they are doing very well because of the publicity they have,” says Arocha, who from that first prize already announced that he would do the “Granadilla competition.”
Lottery customers are usually regulars, both residents of Tafira and Santa Brígida, it is a service station that is very frequent customers. “It is a service station that has a lot of regular customers because we are in an urban center, we are not next to a highway, we almost know everyone by name,” he highlights.
