The Government of the Canary Islands has allocated 600,000 euros to the issuance of 54,000 consumer bonds, the purpose of which is to reactivate the economy of the 11 municipalities of Tenerife affected by the fire that began on August 15 in Arafo and was declared extinguished on November 10. after affecting more than 14,000 hectares.
Each voucher will have a price of 10 euros, but its value will be 20 euros, and each person will be able to purchase a maximum of 10 vouchers, which can be used from next December 27 until the establishment’s balance is exhausted or until the 31st. March 2024.
The vouchers can be exchanged in establishments in Güímar, Arafo, El Rosario, Candelaria, Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Victoria de Acentejo, Santa Úrsula, Los Realejos and La Orotava, and with respect to similar campaigns from other years in this occasions include restaurants and cafes.
The 600,000 euros of this campaign, “Consume in the municipalities affected by the Tenerife fire”, are contributed in equal parts by the Ministries of Economy and Tourism, whose owners, Manuel Domínguez and Jessica de León, have presented it together with the president of the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca), Abbas Moujir.
The president of Fauca has commented that this Wednesday the campaign will begin to attract establishments that want to participate in it, in each of which you can spend up to a maximum of 3,000 euros.
Abbas Moujir has also indicated that the owners of the establishments will be paid within a maximum of 15 days.
The vice president and counselor of Economy, Industry, Commerce and the Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, has indicated that the fire affected the forest mass directly, but also small and medium-sized businesses.
The Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jessica de León, has pointed out that tourism is not just airplanes and hotels, but it is also a driver of the economy.
