SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Tenerife proposes that a participation process be created so that the fans of the Club Deportivo Tenerife design the changes they produce in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, which is “the home of all Tenerife fans.”
The socialist councilor Laura Castro emphasizes in a note that the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has promised a comprehensive reform of the stadium that arrives in time for the centenary of the Heliodoro that is celebrated in 2025 but in the 2024 budgets it only includes 2 million euros, so “it is impossible for a major reform to be reached in time even if this budget is expanded next year.”
“In the socialist group we are very concerned, as are CD Tenerife fans because we see many advertisements and publicity, even with the request of Carlos Tarife – first deputy mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife – to build a Tenerife Arena. And despite all this, we don’t see any projects,” says Laura Castro.
The counselor has asked the Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, in committee, what actions she will take with those two million, “and the answer has been even more disconcerting” since 1.5 million will be allocated to replacing the seats and 500,000 euros to infrastructure works.
Laura Castro adds that the previous corporation left the stadium in charge of the comprehensive reform project, so this corporation should only follow the outlined roadmap “but it seems that they do not have any concrete idea of what they want to do, so the fans must intervene in the design of the new Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium because the Cabildo has no direction or idea about it.
The counselor also remembers that in the previous year, in addition to the contributions to the Geneto Sports City, more than 6 million euros were invested in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in actions such as the 2.8 million euros that were allocated to the improvement of stands, corridors and locksmithing with interventions on the metal walkways of the stadium, the compartmentalization and isolation of the electrical installation to comply with the regulations on electrical systems, the repair of the plumbing in the Press Room and also the pillars and the screens of the vertical structure.
In addition, two million euros were allocated to the new lighting fixtures and the adaptation of their structures, and 630,000 euros were allocated to the awarding of the renovation of the toilets, works that were budgeted in the previous team and whose execution pace is unknown.
