SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Symphony has sold all the tickets for the concert it offers this Friday at the Tenerife Auditorium as part of a new event for the orchestra in its subscription season that includes works by Tchaikovsky and Chopin and which has been called ‘The Nutcracker’.
The Norwegian conductor Tabita Berglund returns to lead the Tenerife Symphony to direct this program in which the presence as soloist of the Asturian pianist Martín García García also stands out, a concert that will begin at 7:30 p.m.
‘The Nutcracker’, suite 1, op. 71A, TH 35 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will open the musical evening.
Specifically, it is a score signed in 1892 and based on a fairy tale that attracts audiences of all ages.
The ballet tells how a series of toys come to life during Christmas Eve, becoming, practically from its premiere, one of the Russian author’s most popular scores, the Cabildo details in a note.
Next, Frédéric Chopin’s ‘Piano Concerto, No. 2 in F minor’ from 1830 will play, following in the footsteps of Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s concertos, influenced, in turn, by those of Mozart.
The piece, with a deep nationalist imprint, has a lyrical writing, richly ornamented, in which the piano – which Martín García García will play on this occasion – monopolizes all the attention, while the orchestra introduces the main musical materials, provides timbral color and sound support.
After the break, the Tenerife Symphony will perform Tchaikovsky again, this time with his ‘Symphony No. 5 in E minor’, Op. 64, TH 29, composed in 1888 and in which he evokes his internal struggles through destiny as an inspiring concept.
This cyclical work, absolutely autobiographical, suffered numerous corrections and rewritings during its creative process, derived from its emotional state.
Tabita Berglund has established herself as one of the greatest promises on the European scene and has been recognized as the most promising young director of her generation and her style has been described as suggestive, charismatic and awake.
In the symphonic field, his debuts stand out with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Berner Symphonieorchester, Orchester National de Lyon, Philharmonia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Musikkollegium Winterthur or the Grafenegg Festival, where it meets with the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich.
In his lyrical facet, his presence at the head of the Philharmonia Orchestra stands out for his debut at the Garsington Opera conducting Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
This season she has also been principal guest conductor of the Kristiansand Symphony and her engagements with Trondheim Symfoniorkester and the Tampere Philharmonic, among others.
Berglund has signed appearances with the main ensembles on both sides of the Atlantic such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Luzerner Symphonieorchester, Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Hallé, Royal Scottish National Orchestra or the Tapiola Sinfonietta.
At only 26 years old, Martín García García is considered one of the pianists with the greatest international projection.

Likewise, he has visited Japan, the United States, Canada, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Lithuania, Portugal and Luxembourg to offer outstanding recitals and perform with prestigious orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Hamburg Symphoniker, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra , Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra or the Orchestra of Brasilia.
