The facilities of the University of La Laguna (ULL)welcomed more than 150 young people from a dozen backgrounds in the third edition of an inclusive sports day organized by Radio ECCA’s Contigo Program, together with the Tenerife Immigration Observatory (OBITen)through the European project SCORE, Together in the same direction and Superaction. Under the title Get active: together towards the goal The activity responds to the objective of promoting the coexistence in diversity between youth of the island.
Ten modalities
Through ten sports modalities and twenty teams, young people between 14 and 24 years old put the values of respect and community at the service of inclusion. Specifically, they practiced team play through paddle tennis, calisthenics, Canary ball, ultimate frisbeebasketball, football flag, handball, climbing, brilé and dancing. The meeting was a step towards mutual knowledge between those who have just arrived in Tenerife to continue their migratory process and those who live there, whether they were born on the Island or elsewhere in the world.
Coexistence
The III Inclusive Sports Day shows in summary the importance of sports practice for coexistence. A forum that had the collaboration of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL), as well as the support of the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering and the IES La Laboral. This collaboration translates, according to the organizers, the value of alliances between public and private groups, to work in favor of interculturality within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
