The south of Tenerife celebrates Christmas in the streets with lighting, decorations, figures and characters common to these festivals and cultural events. Three great Three Wise Men, five meters high, have witnessed this for days in the town of Los Cristianos, where they are already installed on the seafront.
They will be lit today along with the rest of the Christmas lighting in Arona, which is ahead of the rest of the Region. Others, like Santiago del Teide or Candelaria, will launch it on Friday, taking advantage of the start of the weekend and, with it, gift shopping.

As is tradition, this municipality will hold four lighting events in different locations: at 6:00 p.m., at the bridge tree, in Valle San Lorenzo; at 7:00 p.m., on the Los Cristianos promenade; at 8:15 p.m., on Las Galletas Central Street, and at 9:00 p.m., in the Plaza de la Iglesia de El Fraile.
1,650 decorations throughout the town
In total, in the different areas of the municipality, almost 1,650 decorations have been installed, including curtains, threads, rosaries, street arches or representations of the Birth, the Three Wise Men and announcing angels in the roundabouts.
In addition, four large trees have been placed in Las Galletas and El Fraile and an illuminated vault about 150 meters long on Central Street in Las Galletas. All this with LED technology, according to the Arona City Council in a statement.
For its part, in Candelaria, the festive spirit comes with a display of events that begin on December 1 with the Christmas lighting. The total number of activities amounts to more than sixty in Villa Mariana. “In addition, this year we once again insist on how important it is to support local businesses, promoting a Christmas at kilometer 0, thus boosting the municipality’s economy,” explained the mayor, Mari Brito.
In turn, he pointed out that Candelaria Christmas continues to have “traditional overtones, but open to new rites. It is packed with lights and decorations, nativity scenes and art, music, rounds and Christmas carols, routes and parades, fairs, dances, sweets and wines, theaters, sports, activities of all kinds thanks to countless associations, groups, entities that collaborate closely with the City hall”.
On January 1, in Santiago del Teide
For his part, the mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, yesterday presented the Santiago del Teide 2023-2024 Christmas programming, which is made up of nearly 90 acts and events from December 1 to January 6.
Emilio Navarro stated that “from the City Council we have developed a complete program of activities to enjoy with family and company all the activities with which we seek, among other things, commercial and economic revitalization throughout the municipality.”
Likewise, the Aronero Culture Councilor, David Quintero, presented the most important cultural and festive events such as the Christmas lighting, the Los Sabandeños concert, the Los Cantadores concert, the New Year’s Eve in Los Gigantes and the Three Kings Parade.
The Councilor for Commerce, Germán Jiménez, emphasized the event A cliff of flavors, which will take place this coming Saturday, December 2, within the commercial campaign A closer Christmas with the idea of building customer loyalty, as well as the production of the largest nougat in the Canary Islands, among other small events within the framework of the festivities in this municipality.
