The Investigation and Analysis Group of the Canary Islands Traffic Sector (GIAT) of the Civil Guard has investigated a 27-year-old girl as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of reckless driving committed on the San Andrés highway, where three occupants of the vehicle took part of the body through the windows.
On November 20, the GIAT was aware of the dissemination on social networks of a recording in which it observed how a car was traveling on the TF-12 highway, from San Andrés to Las Canteras, in which three of its occupants took out their part of his upper body through the windows with the consequent danger, his behavior clearly affecting road safety.
After analyzing the images released, it was found out that the tourism was for rent without a driver and that the return date was that same day at the facilities of the Reina Sofía – Tenerife South Airport, so components of the GIAT moved to the aforementioned airport facility. awaiting its arrival and proceeding to identify its occupants.
At 5:55 p.m. the vehicle in question was intercepted and its occupants were identified, proceeding to inform the driver that she was being investigated for an alleged crime against road safety for manifestly reckless driving.
Likewise, four complaint bulletins were prepared for the commission of four administrative violations of road safety regulations, for the three occupants not using their seat belts, as well as for driving a vehicle without the rest of the occupants maintaining the proper position. , proposing for a total penalty of 880 euros.
In accordance with the provisions of the current Penal Code, the crime of driving with manifest recklessness is punishable by prison sentences of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of more than one and up to six years. .
Likewise, the General Traffic Regulations include as administrative infractions the failure of the occupant of the vehicle to use, or not use it properly, the seat belt correctly fastened, punishable by a financial penalty of 200 euros, and driving a vehicle without maintaining the proper position of the rest of the passengers, punished with a financial amount of 80 euros.
The corresponding proceedings have been carried out regarding the facts investigated and have been delivered to the Police Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as well as the complaint bulletins have been sent to the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
