In a few days, the echo of the pots of the Cross port will ring again through the northern town to celebrate Saint Andrewone of the anniversaries that shelter the identity of the municipality that is based above all on the participation of the neighborhood in one of the most family-friendly celebrations of the year.
Thus, from the City Council, with the participation of the Training Plan in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) of Community Dynamization and the initiative of neighborhood associations, we participate in an activity as simple as it is sound, such as running the pot, so celebrated for the little ones, in which the municipality’s schools also collaborate.
Plaza del Charco will once again be the nerve center with a workshop developed by the PFAE to invite all families to make their own pots.
Cans, metal containers and other types of utensils are used to build a pot, a tradition that goes back to the custom of the winemakers of yesteryear, who, on these dates, dragged the barrels through the streets to take them to the sea and there wash them for store the new harvest.
Also the five primary schools, the neighborhood associations and the festival commissions of La Vera, Calle Nueva, Punta Brava or San Antonio celebrate this day by running the pot, in addition to other activities that are already a tradition in the neighborhoods and turn that afternoon into an opportunity to share among Portuguese families.
