SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12th February (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Monday, the Cabildo of Tenerife held a minute of silence to express solidarity with the families of the two civil guards who lost their lives in the line of duty on February 9 in Barbate while combating drug trafficking.
The event took place in the Plaza del Cabildo and was attended by Brigadier General Juan Hernández Mosquera, head of the Canary Islands Civil Guard Zone, following a request from the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
Lope Afonso, the first vice president of the Cabildo, conveyed condolences to Hernández on behalf of the Cabildo and its citizens.
“It is crucial to demonstrate solidarity and support during such times and acknowledge the courageous work undertaken by the State Security Forces and Corps – in this case, the Civil Guard – in challenging conditions. It is imperative to support their efforts in ensuring protection and order in society,” stated Afonso in a note issued by the corporation.
