SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, has met with representatives of the Guamasa Neighborhood Association, in Tenerife, who have given him some 900 signatures from neighbors and groups against the closure of access 14 to the TF-5 highway ordered by the Cabildo days ago as a pilot project.
The president of the association, Jonay Luzardo, told Yanes that the objective is to ensure that the Cabildo of Tenerife “does not again close access to the TF-5 highway that it put into practice, on a trial basis, for 15 days.”
Luzardo added that although the institution has a positive assessment of the pilot test, the neighbors do not want the road to be closed “under any circumstances.”
“This access is essential for the flow of traffic in the neighborhood. The island has a major mobility problem and solutions must be sought as soon as possible, but the solution must not be detrimental to the residents of Guamasa,” he said in a note sent. by the Common Council.
Furthermore, the president of the association stated that although the Council has given itself a period of a couple of weeks, they are still waiting for the actions that can be carried out on the two roads parallel to the TF-5, the TF-235 and the TF- 152.
“In the event that the closure is definitive, the situation in the neighborhood will be chaos because, although traffic was relieved during the pilot test on the TF-5, the queues continued to collapse at other points such as Los Rodeos, La Esperanza or Las Quarries,” he noted.
The Common Deputy, Rafael Yanes, promised to forward the signatures received to the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and pointed out that the island of Tenerife “has a serious mobility problem.”
In his opinion, “the administration has to opt for a public transportation model that is punctual, fast and economical.”
The residents will gather this Friday in front of the doors of the Town Hall, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., as a sign of protest against the closure of the TF-5 link
