SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife takes up the traditions to commemorate the day of San Andrés as agreed this week at the Insular Wine Table, which met with the aim of monitoring the coordinated work between the insular institution and the sector and addressing a series of events organized with the purpose of commemorating the ‘month of wine’.
The counselor of the Primary Sector, Valentín González, announced that “this year, and on the occasion of the celebration of the day of San Andrés, patron saint of winemakers, and at the request of the Tenerife wine sector itself”, the traditional commemorative events will be resumed.
In this way, on November 29 – St. Andrew’s Eve – the Casa del Vino de Tenerife, located in the municipality of El Sauzal, will host a conference on the wine landscape in Tenerife, and more specifically, on the ‘Cordón Braided’ from La Orotava.
After the conference, the ‘San Andrés Award’ will be presented, which aims to recognize the work of people and entities in promoting and innovation in the Tenerife wine sector.
The celebration of Saint Andrew’s Day will conclude with the traditional corkage ceremony in which the six regulatory councils of Tenerife will offer wine to attendees, on the eve of the day in which the island’s wineries will open, with the aim of tasting the wines from the different denominations of origin, and that it becomes a meeting point where winemakers, winegrowers, and other guests at the event can chat.
The members of the Insular Wine Table also addressed the upcoming celebration, on November 27 and 28, of the 12th edition of the ‘Wine Days’, which will serve to “share the work carried out in the different areas of the sector with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the wine produced in Tenerife”.
