In this world in which we live, the situation of many animals is precarious due to the mistreatment they suffer in different places, often outside their habitats. At the Exotic Fauna Recovery Center of the Neotropical Foundation of Tenerife A multitude of stories are hidden that keep the personality of each animal.

The rise in the arrival of these animals to the Island has caused the need for the center quadruples its facilities to be able to shelter those animals that need to be helped.

New stories will come, but already in the Neotropics there are some that are worth knowing.

The deadly scorpions

Many animals arrive at the Neotropic Foundation, but few are as deadly as the scorpion that came from Morocco.

How did you get to Tenerife? The scorpion got into a child’s backpack and traveled with him to the Canary archipelago. It is fortunate that nothing happened, because its sting is fatal due to the venom of its stinger.

Juanita, the circus monkey

Juanita’s story is one of the hardest in the center. This female capuchin monkey was systematically drugged, every day, at a circus, so that attendees could take a photo with her.

This has created a problem against the people. Every person who passes by your place of residence is in danger of be hit by one of the stones nearbyalthough his aim is not the best of all.

The Moon Macaque

Luna lived with a married couple. She lived with her owner for fifteen years until, one day, It tore his face and caused injuries to her husband’s arm.

This attack of fury was carried out in defense of his owner, but separated them. For this reason, it is located in the Exotic Fauna Recovery Center of the Neotropical Foundation of Tenerife, in order to keep it in a stable place.

Franki the turtle

Franki is living history of the center. It is the animal that has been admitted the longest in the facilities located in Big Ravinewithin the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

He arrived there in 1985. 38 years living with the people in charge of his carewhich has made him one of the family.
