‘Gastrosur’ reinforces the link between the primary sector, tourism and gastronomy

The San Isidro Farmer’s Market hosted the VI Meeting of the Primary Sector and Restoration, Gastrosur 2023organized by the Circle of Entrepreneurs and Professionals of the South of Tenerife (CEST), with Promotur Islas Canary IslandsGMR Canarias, the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Granadilla de Abona City Council as co-organizers. This edition focused on the modernization and digitalization of the primary sector as a method to optimize processes and achieve better results and greater profitability.

In addition to the training section, the event once again fulfilled its objective of bringing together the primary sector and the gastronomy and tourism business community to promote local products as a guarantee of quality and promote commercial relations between these economic actors in the region. All this thanks to the support of Cajasiete and Sermugran.

The president of CEST, Javier Cabrera, stressed that “the importance of Gastrosur 2023 lies in its ability to weave solid links between economic sectors that are fundamental for our region. The symbiosis between primary, commercial and catering, tourism and economic activity, in general, is not only an aspiration, but a prevailing need,” he said.

Javier Cabrera explained that this year the program focused on the search for innovative solutions to optimize processes and achieve greater profitability in the primary sector. Furthermore, he added that «Gastrosur is not just a forum for learning and exchanging ideas. It is a link between the primary sector and the gastronomy and tourism industry. At the same time, it serves to promote local products as a guarantee of quality and we promote commercial relations between these two economic pillars of our region.”

The program included a kilometer zero agricultural products market, in which more than 20 producers from the southern region participated; Restaurant and hospitality establishments offered attendees a sample of their gastronomic offerings with local products as a base and, in addition, presentations were given on relevant subjects for the sectors targeted by this annual meeting.
