SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands rescued a bather in trouble today, Saturday, on Rojas beach, in the municipality of El Sauzal, in Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred minutes before 1:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational room received an alert informing that a swimmer was in trouble on the coast of Rojas and, due to the poor state of the sea, It was moving away from the shore, so Cecoes immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
On behalf of 1-1-2, the GES rescue helicopter, Maritime Rescue, members of the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium, a sanitized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), agents from the Civil Guard and the General Corps of the Canarian Police.
Once there, the GES helicopter located the affected person, carried out the rescue and transported him to the shore so that he could be assessed and assisted by SUC health personnel. The affected person had various moderate bruises, although it was not necessary to transfer him to a health center.
GES firefighters and rescuers informed the Coordinating Center that a second person in distress also at sea managed to get out under their own power and did not need medical assistance. Members of the General Corps of the Canarian Police collaborated with the media involved.
The 1-1-2 Canarias also activated another rescue device on Las Conchas beach, in Lanzarote, for a bather in distress about 50 meters from the coast, although she finally managed to get out on her own. The affected person was assisted on the shore by the SUC and taken by ambulance to a health center.
