The Granadilla de Abona City Council has initially and unanimously approved, in the last municipal plenary session, the ordinance regulating the rural land canon, at the request of the Department of Urban Planning, directed by Óscar Delgado Melo, and which has to do with the use of this type of plots and the mandatory nature of establishing a charge as compensation for the exceptional use of this type of soil.
As established by the regulations, a prior public consultation was carried out for 15 days, without any complaints or suggestions being presented. The obligation to pay this fee will fall on the holder of the granted use right and payment of 7% of the value of the use will be established, according to the material execution budget presented.
Óscar Delgado expressed that the municipal government’s intention with the approval of this ordinance is that the economic amounts received from this fee are not freely available, but rather become part of the municipal public land assets, and can be used for the construction of housing. protected or other uses of social interest, such as the conservation or improvement of the environment and natural spaces; of historical heritage; the protection of the coastline and other issues that will result in the well-being of the population, reported the Granadilla City Council.
The Urban Planning Councilor argues that this is a series of uses authorized by other supra-municipal administrations, considered of public or social interest, and this municipal ordinance will make it possible to charge a fee, such as from photovoltaic installation companies.
“This means that in the coming years the municipal coffers will be able to receive a significant amount of money that will impact uses of social interest for Granadilla de Abona,” stressed the Urban Planning Councilor.
