Tenerife suffers the longest gust of wind in the country and waves of five meters

Tenerife yesterday suffered strong gusts of wind and waves between five and six meters high as a result of the passage of the Celia storm through the Islands. The bad weather left gusts of wind on the neighboring island that reached 169 kilometers per hour in Izaña at 3:10 p.m. This was the highest streak in the entire country, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was hit harder by the wind than the eastern one. In Alto Igualero, in Vallehermoso (La Gomera) 118 kilometers per hour were recorded at 9:30 am, 101 in Candelaria, 100 in Las Cañadas del Teide and 95 in Tenerife North Airport.

In Adeje, the strong wind caused the fall of a water tank on the rear terrace of an apartment on Piedra Redonda street, in La Postura. In the same area, part of the structure of a roof in Plaza César Manrique also fell off, some “sandwich panels”, which affected some vehicles parked on the road, according to sources from the Adeje council.

A woman was seriously injured and was admitted to Hospiten Sur in critical condition after a wall fell on her from several meters high when the victim was in the pergola of a bar in a hotel in Costa Adeje.
