950 kilos of cocaine that were hidden in a ship in Tenerife are seized

Customs Surveillance Officials of the Tax Agency and agents of the Tax and Border Section of the Civil Guard of the Fiscal and Border Section (UDAIFF) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife They have carried out a joint operation that resulted in the seizure of 950 kilos of cocaine in the capital of Tenerife. The drugs were discovered hidden on a ship coming from Brazil.

During the inspection carried out on three containers on the ship, several suspicious packages were identified. These containers were used by the crew to dispose of waste generated during the voyage and were scheduled to be unloaded by a waste management company.

Inside the containers, agents found 65 packages of cocaine of different sizes. After carrying out narcotest tests, it was confirmed that it was cocaine, with a total weight of approximately 950 kilos.

The ship had been calling at several ports in South America, and its last stop before arriving in Rio de Janeiro was the Brazilian port of Santos. In that port, Brazilian authorities discovered an individual trying to hide 350 kilos of cocaine in the engine of a truck that was inside the ship. The waste containers were emptied during this operation. Subsequently, the ship headed to Rio de Janeiro and, from there, set sail for Tenerife.

The details of this important discovery were communicated to the Investigative Court acting as guard of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to continue with the corresponding investigations.
