He Granadilla de Abona City Council has decreed today, Wednesday, September 27, the temporary closure of the El Médano Beach (central beach) and the Leocadio Machado Beachafter being detected in the analysis that an indicator exceeds the maximum level allowed. In addition, the red flag has been raised, temporarily prohibiting bathing.
From the Consistory it is reported that only the central beach and Leocadio Machado exceed the levels allowed for bathing. It should be noted that although the samples taken on previous days showed results of good water quality, new results received today have exceeded the permitted parameter for Enterococci.
Today, Wednesday, samples were taken again to carry out a counter-analysis by the municipal service. The City Council is taking this measure to guarantee the safety of bathers, pending the results of the latest analysis, and as soon as they confirm that the waters are suitable for bathing, they will be reopened.
