The necessary works at the old San Agustín School are one step closer. The Cabildo of Tenerife recently held a meeting with the Los Realejos City Council to coordinate actions to improve local heritage, in which several issues related to the Insular Historical Heritage Program were discussed. In particular, The works to be carried out in the old Colegio de San Agustín were addressed, corresponding to phase II to allocate this property for cultural use.
The meeting held was attended by the island director of Territorial Planning and Historical Heritage of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Isabel de Esteban; the general director of Culture and Heritage of the Government of the Canary IslandsMiguel Ángel Clavijo, and the mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo Gonzalezwho was accompanied by the Councilor for Historical Heritage of this municipality, Isabel Socorro.
Likewise, reference was made to the subsidies related to updating the municipal catalog and the drafting of the special protection plans for the historical complexes of Realejo Alto and Realejo Bajo, and special mention was made of the “need to have such documents, given the importance they play in the conservation of cultural heritage.
Isabel de Esteban stressed the “importance of these meetings to reach a consensus and launch projects for the development and conservation of the municipality’s heritage values and especially the drafting of the special plans for the two historical complexes that the municipality has.” Adolfo González thanked the “predisposition, closeness and good harmony shown during the meeting, where tasks and priorities have been defined to, among the three administrations, finally address a consensual, determined and effective commitment to the protection, promotion and enhancement of the historical heritage.
