The sixth edition of the Big Band Vintage Festival begins its sixth edition on October 5 with a program that embraces the culture and trends that illuminated rock and roll between the decades of the 40s and 70s of the last century, in he San Telmo park from the capital of Gran Canaria as a nerve center.
This year it lasts until October 8 with a series of activities that revolve around rock, soul or punk. Live music will be combined with dance workshops and a series of extra-musical actions ranging from wine tastings to displays of custom motorcycles or antiques, literature and photography.
The protagonists of the festival will be the singer of La Mancha origin Anna Dukke and the British group Palooka 5. They are joined by: Los Chili, Malabrava, Le Dancing Pepa Swing Band, PVC (Pon Vino Cabrón), Bad Bone Stompers. The Champions, the Elvis Back to Building show and Salta Tequila. The musical selectors that will entertain the festival will be Los Pinchadiscos del Pantano, Vamp Dj and J La Fábrica Dj.
IsabellaYPunto will be in charge of being the master of ceremonies of a show that is completed with Chiqui Love and Evita de Vil and Rafaelillo Clown Cabaret, protagonist of the children’s programming.
Added to the musical performances is the inauguration of theto Rock&Ellas exhibitiona series by Tenerife photographer Javi Felipe that will be exhibited at the Insular Library, in the Plaza de las Ranas, in which the author makes visible the work and prominence of women in the Archipelago’s music scene.

The look of the Tenerife photographer captures and compiles a collection of images from the last decade where the rock music stand and how many styles feed the practice of music in Canary Islands, has a woman’s name. A gesture by the author that responds to the convenience of making the female figure visible in the island scene. A look at an intermittent scene, which has never existed as such, from which Javi Felipe has been a direct witness, and to which different generations of creators, men and women, have given meaning and a certain coherence, who have cultivated the craft of song in all its forms, without complexes and overcoming insularity.
In the literary section, highlights the epistolary and fictional story about the visit to Tenerife in the spring of 1963 of three members of the British group The Beatles: Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. There were eleven days of vacation to which the author goes to tell how it was the prelude to the success of some young musicians, who at 20 years old were going to become one of the most important bands in the history of music.
He will also reveal the details of his biography titled The first stone of Canarian rock Rafael Izquierdo as bassist of Los Canarios. It was the band led by Teddy Bautista from the late 1960s and 1970s of the last century.
Among other activities, the public will be able to participate in the mysterious routes of the criminal and historical Canary Islands and practice in the dance workshops offered this year by the festival, among numerous other parallel offers.
This year, the festival also travels to the islands of Tenerife and The Palm with presentation parties and promotional actions. Specifically, today a rock and roll party is being held in Santa Cruz de La Palma featuring Los Pinchadiscos del Pantano and J.LaFábrica Dj. And on September 30, a concert with Bad Bone Stompers, Los Pinchadiscos del Pantano, J.LaFábrica Dj and El Emascarado Positivo will take place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
