SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
From September 10 to 12, Tenerife participated in the ‘Shalom Spain 2023’ conference in Tel-Aviv in order to promote itself as a tourist destination to fifty tour operators and travel agents from Israel.
Together with Turismo de Tenerife, two of its associated companies, Turisbeds and Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, attended the conference.
The vice president and advisor of Tourism of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, explains in a note that the possibilities of growth in this emerging market are “considerable.”
Thus, it details that travelers from Israel are recovering after the break caused by the pandemic and the forecast is to reach 6,700 visitors throughout 2023.
The CEO of Tenerife Tourism, Dimple Melwani, highlights the importance of the island’s attendance at the event, “which opens the doors to reinforcing promotion in this market in order to contribute to the recovery of the 2018 figures that “They show an upward trend after the pandemic and show the experiences that Tenerife offers for a few days of vacation, both for its pleasant climate throughout the year and for its wide range of outdoor activities, gastronomy and leisure, among others.”
Melwani also adds that “participation in this professional event adds to the various actions carried out in that country to show the magnificent particularities of Tenerife as a tourist destination”, and where we can highlight, for example, the attendance in February at the IMTM fair, also in Tel-Aviv.
The ‘Spain Shalom’ program, an event organized by the Spanish Tourism Office in Rome – in charge of managing the promotion of national destinations in the Israeli market – has included presentations on the Israeli market itself and on connectivity, as well as such as a meeting with travel agents or a day dedicated to language tourism and gastronomy.
Travelers from Israel are recovering after the stoppage caused by the covid-19 pandemic.
In 2018, the island received almost 12,500 passengers arriving from that country, both on direct flights (practically all from Tel-Aviv) and connecting flights.
Thus, thanks to the routes that Iberia and Vueling maintain with Israel from Madrid and Barcelona, which are joined by those that companies such as Edelweis, Brussels Airlines or Wizz Air operate with that country from other European cities, many Israeli travelers can connect with Tenerife. after making stops in Switzerland, Belgium, the Czech Republic or Italy.
All of this means that the number of Israeli passengers entering the island has reached 4,800 in 2022, with the forecast to rise to 6,700 throughout 2023.
