Promises to improve the quality of the water in the Trevejos pond, in Vilaflor

The Cabildo of Tenerife and the Vilaflor City Council lay the foundations to improve the quality of the water in the Trevejos reservoir, together with the irrigators of the area and representatives of the public company Balten, dependent on the Island Corporationr. This reservoir has a capacity for 278,000 cubic meters of water and figures from the closing of last August have a volume of 123,000 cubic meters, 44% of its capacity.

The Primary Sector advisor, Valentín Gonzalezand the mayor of Vilaflor, Agustina Beltránheld a meeting in which they addressed the necessary measures to improve the quality of the Trevejos pond with the aim of improve the efficiency of irrigation water supply in the area. Valentin Gonzalez He stressed “the importance of working collaboratively between administrations and with water owners, so that we manage the available resources more effectively, contributing to improving the agricultural future in the area.”

In recent years, The Cabildo has “significantly” increased the supply in this area, according to Valentín González, who highlighted during the meeting that “it is time to promote measures that improve water quality, since this has a direct relationship with agricultural production.” The Primary Sector counselor valued the commitment of the Vilaflor City Council and the irrigators themselves “in the search for solutions to this circumstance” and announced that he will call another meeting with representatives of the Insular Water Council, with the aim of joining forces to optimize the quality and the distribution network.
