The September festivities in honor of the Christ of Calvary in Icod de los Vinos will bring together, in two weeks, more than 60 cultural, sporting and religious events.. The festivities will begin this Friday with the reading of the Pregón in the Plaza de Lorenzo Cáceres, by Isabel García Luis, president of the Popular Party in the northern municipality, and will end on the last Saturday of this month, with the celebration of the Tournament of Basketball Antonio Acevedo Memorial, the Vovinam Viet vo Dao Christ Cup and the III Cristo II Memorial Jesús Poleo Méndez Tennis Open.
The program of events for these festivities and the poster, the work of the designer David Socas, were presented yesterday in the Plenary Hall of the Icodense City Council by the mayor, Javier Sierra, who stated that “this year they recover, perhaps, that popular charisma of a few decades ago.” At the event he was accompanied by the councilors of Sports, Sonia Martín, and of Culture, Verónica Gonzalezin addition to the parish priest Juan Carlos Alameda.
